Paper box

Boxes - they are needed for almost anything. Stores things, gift things... etc.
Boxes usually are bought but this box is very easy to make. It is according to the size you need and sturdy.
All you need is:
1. Card stock or chart paper
2. Glue
3. Scissors
4. Stationery
The steps are:
1. For the box of around that size, take an A4 size sheet of the desired colour.
2. Make such folds.
Always remember that the centre piece determines the space you will have. Make sure that the surrounding folds are of the same length.
For example, let this piece be  20×20 cm. If you want your centre (actual space in the box of 8 cm, then make the following measurements of 6-8-6 cm on adjacent sides.
The 6-6 dimensions determine the height of your box. You can change the dimensions accordingly.
3. Cut out the portions in the following way.
Don't cut edge to edge, according the lines. Leave about 1 cm of paper that will enable us to join papers properly.
4. Fold adjacent sides of the folds. Put glue on the paper like this.
5. Stick all the edges. You have your box now.
6. To make the cover follow the above instructions. Make sure the centre space has the same dimensions. The height of the cover can vary.
7. You have your whole box.
You can garnish your box by quilling, designer paper, stones etc.

Scrols for jars

Do you sometimes get so bored that you start planning your itinerary? I do that. But sometimes I get so so bored that I plan for the things I should do when I get bored. So I made these scrols and put them in a jar.
These are one of the easiest things I have ever made. All you need is:
  • Colourful papers(preferably chart paper or card stock)
  • Scissors and marker, glitter pens
  • Paper cutter
  • Small ribbon or thick thread
  • Jar
The steps to make these beautiful scrols are:
  1. Plan the things you want to write about in your scrols. Make it short and sweet.
  2. Take your colourful sheets and start writing your thoughts in them like this.
  3. Make sure that you leave some gap between two scrols.
  4. Beautifully adorn your scrols.
  5. Using a paper cutter or scissors, cut your scrols from the paper.
  6. Roll your scrols and add the ribbon on them.
  7. Put them in a jar.

Pinwheel envelope

It's not exactly a pinwheel envelope but it resembles one.
It's very easy to make requiring the least resources.
All you need is:

  1. Paper (which sheet you want to use to make your envelope)
  2. Ribbon (matching colour)
  3. Compass and pencil and required stationery
  4. Scissors and fevicol
Steps to make this DIY aare:
  1. Take the sheet. Fixing the compass at a required radius make four circles. Make sure that the circles are of same radius.
  2. Fold the circles into half as shown above. Plac the circles in a such a way that one is above the other and the folded lines meet. The picture might illustrate better.

  3. Glue the edges of the ones in the above level.
  4. Place the other side of the folds in the same manner- one above another.
  5. On the back side of the envelope, add a small portion of glue and stick your ribbon.
  6. Tie your ribbon in a desired manner.
You can insert a sheet or a relatively flat present inside.
This makes a perfect gift. I gifted this to my friend on his countdown.

Jelly cake

Do you love cooking?
Fond of raspberry?
Give this one a shot!
It a raspberry jelly cake with a chocolate base. It is supposed to be served with vanilla custard.
For the jelly:
You can get a ready made pack for the jelly. Follow the instructions properly. And get such a setting.
For the custard: again you can get a ready made custard powder from the market. Just follow the instructions and set it to cool.

For the chocolate base:
You will need a dark chocolate compound.
Steps to follow are:
1. Take an aluminium sheet and spread oil on it.
2. Take your dark chocolate, cut it into pieces of required quantity and put it in a microwave safe bowl.
3. Heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take it out. Stir it. Put it in the microwave again for 30 seconds. Do this until you get a smooth layer.
Note: Don't burn the chocolate. For me, 2 rounds were enough to get a smooth layer.
4. Taking a spoon spread the chocolate on the foil. Allow it to settle. Again spread some more chocolate. Do this until you get a thick layer of chocolate like this.
5. Refrigerate the chocolate for atleast an hour. In the mean time, you can prepare the jelly and custard. Do NOT refrigerate the jelly.
6. Take out your chocolate. Very slowly pull out the sheet from it. Put the base on a plate.
7. Take the jelly which has settled down. Put it on the base and turn it upside down to get the look.
8. Add a few chocolate toppers and serve it with custard.

DIY Heart Shaped Collage

DIY Heart collage! Very easy to make and very classy. But requires a bit of time.
All you need is:

  • Plywood of the required size. I have used 42" ×50". However your measurements may vary.
  • Primer and Color you want. You can also outsource the painting job if you want.
  • Photographs. I made this on the occasion of my fathers birthday. since he was turning 48, I have used 48 pictures.
  • CDs. You need atleast 10.
  • Glue and Scissors.
STEPS:
  1. Take your plywood and primer. Start painting on the wood. Make sure that there is a bunch of old newspapers or papers around your wood, otherwise you may also paint your floor.
  2. You need to double coat your primer on the wood when it dries. It need not be standard everywhere but it has to cover all the area.
  3. Let it dry. If you have time, keep it aside for a day.
  4. Now color the board. If you want to see how to paint properly, visit my other blog: http://diyworldartandcraft.blogspot.in/2016/03/how-to-paint-properly-in-3-easy-steps.html?m=1
  5. You need to make sure that the color is standard everywhere. You may double coat it. Let it dry. It will look like this.
  6. Make the measurements of the board. Since my pictures were 6" ×4" I took the following calculations.
    11 rows:
Row 1: 4 pics
Row 2: 6 pics (clustered)
Row 3: 6 pics
Row 4: 6 pics
Row 5: 6 pics
Row 6: 5 pics
Row 7: 5 pics
Row 8: 4 pics
Row 9: 3 pics
Row 10: 2 pics
Row 11: 1 pic

7. Start with the row that has the largest no. of pics. Then stick the picture in the last row.      Accordingly, complete your collage.
8. Cut your CDs leaving the centre part. Cut it in any shape.
9. Fix your wood to the wall. I have used nails because my support was a window. You can use your    preferred means to stick it.
10. Start sticking the CDs to the edge of the wood. You can put it as a border or leave some areas    blank like I have.

That's it! You have made your collage.
Just one last step incase you have made it.

11. Click your collage's picture and post it in the comments section.

I await your picture! :)

DIY WALL CALENDAR

Have you always wanted to have a calendar that you have made? That you change it hassle free? That is personalized?

Make a DIY Wall Calendar which can be made easily. You can schedule your meetings, appointments and important dates with ease and comfort.

All you need is:

  • A cardstock (hard form of paper) or chart paper,
  • Chalk
  • Stationery
  • Tape: Removable or double or simple tape.
STEPS:
  1. Measure the area where you want to set your calendar. Accordingly space your cells and its size.
  2. You have to make 2 big pieces for writing the month and note; 7 rows and 7 columns. (In the figure)
  3. Cut the pieces according to the dimensions you have decided. For my calendar I used, 6cm X 5cm for the cells, 7cm X 24cm for the notes and 20cm X 6cm for the heading.
  4. Using a pencil draw the layout of the calendar on the wall. You need to make sure that the measurements are correct for the professional look.
  5. Paste the cell in their appropriate places.
  6. Using a chalk, number the date, name the month and add the note below.
  7. Add your necessary details on various dates.
So here is your calendar. You can change it according to your wish.

Enhancing options: You can use chart papers of different colors. instead of adding details of your dates using chalk, you can use colorful post-its.

HOW TO PAINT PROPERLY IN 3 EASY STEPS

Painting is a wonderful recreational art. It is followed by people around the globe. However one needs to note certain precautions and steps while painting. This will give a more beautiful and professional look to it.

  1. Size of the brush: The size of brushes vary from thin to thick. Thin ones ought to be used for precision and small or corner areas whereas the thick ones should be used for painting a large area.
  2. Direction of stroke: The stroke can be directed in any way. But care must be taken that the remaining strokes also move in that direction. This gives it an orderly and professional look.
  3. Outlining: Marker or a pen(preferably black) should be used before the image is painted so that the colors and figures can be easily demarcated. Also after painting, a marker should be run again so as to soften the rough edges and make the picture look complete.
These small steps go a long way in painting an attractive picture.
